5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2018
Winery notes (2016 Vintage) "We created Harken Chardonnay because we missed that rich, oaky taste of Chardonnays gone by. At some point, someone decided that those great toasty notes and buttery finish went out of style. We think that’s crazy. So we brought it back. Honouring the days when things were done right–including the art of winemaking.
The grapes are grown in the Arroyo Seco AVA of Salinas Valley, California. The unique features of this small but diverse grape-growing paradise create a magical blend of depth and character. With the Santa Lucia Mountains rising to the west and Monterey Bay to the north, Salinas Valley is nestled in a coveted area of ideal climate and growing conditions.
100% barrel fermented, 100 % malolactic, 7 months in 80% American & 20% French oak, This is a big rich Chardonnay that oozes flavour with tropical fruits and Bosc pear alongside warm oak aromatics. The luscious palate suggests crème brulée and buttered toast. Yum!"
